Welcome to Advertising Campaign
Kansas City Advertising
I work in a Kansas City advertising agency, and have for the past 3 years. I do not consider it selling out, like you might think. You see, when I got into Kansas City advertising, I was not compromising a dream, so much as grasping on to the most realistic and easily achieved part of it. I had always loved to do creative work, but had never understood how to do it while still making enough money to support the standard of living that I truly desired. My Kansas City advertising job allowed me to do all of that. Although I am not allowed to really express my own ideas about society and how it is being destroyed by the marketing of false desires by massive, evil corporations, I am allowed to use my aesthetic ideas in the service of clients, those same big evil corporations. I tell you, life does not get much better than this.
One of the best things about working in a Kansas City advertising agency is the variety of work that we are able to do. Of course, anyone would get bored designing endless billboards, tv spots, and logos. I mean, there are only so many ways to say "buy me!", and after awhile, the consumer gets bored with it. But advertising in Kansas city has really kept pace with the rest of the world, and new techniques in marketing have come in to vogue, keeping my job exciting and entertaining. In my Kansas City advertising job, I get to use viral marketing, word of mouth, and even use techniques borrowed from the famous "happenings" of the 60s and the punk rock movements of the 70s, and reapplied to making money. I still get to stage street theater for my Kansas City advertising job, although of course I have most definitely switched sides. The fact is, there really never was a better gig for me.
The best thing about my Kansas City advertising agency is that we really tailor things to local flavor. Advertising in Kansas city requires a level of cultural sensitivity, because things are a lot different here than in other places. We are able to appeal to the down home, straightforward, slow-moving aesthetic which is so valued in this part of the country and turn it into pure gold for our Kansas City advertising customers. There is no thrill greater than a job well done.
